Maker vs taker
A maker adds liquidity by leaving an order on the book. A taker removes existing liquidity by filling immediately. A limit order can still be a taker if it executes immediately.
Simple fee example
A 1,000 USDT spot fill at 0.1% is about 1 USDT. A 1,000 USDT futures taker fill at 0.055% is about 0.55 USDT. Opening and closing can each create a fee.
