Read the effect of leverage correctly
Leverage does not directly multiply P&L for the same contract quantity. In this tool, margin × leverage creates the position notional, so higher leverage with unchanged margin produces a larger quantity and therefore larger gains or losses for the same price move.
Maker and taker fees can vary by account and order conditions. No assumed live fee is prefilled; enter the rate shown in My Fee Rate or the order interface.
Calculation sequence
Position Notional = Margin × LeverageContract Qty = Position Notional ÷ Entry PriceGross P&L (Long) = Qty × (Exit − Entry)Gross P&L (Short) = Qty × (Entry − Exit)Net P&L ≈ Gross P&L − Open Fee − Close Fee − Funding Paid/ReceivedEnter funding received as a negative number. Partial closes, multiple entries and changing fee tiers require a more detailed ledger.
Check each input
- Entry / Exit: use average entry and closing prices in the same quote currency.
- Margin / Leverage: their product is the position notional used by this calculator.
- Fee Rate: the tool assumes the same percentage for open and close; enter the actual applicable rate.
- Funding: enter the total paid as positive or the total received as negative.
Example: 100,000 → 101,000 Long, 1,000 margin, 5x
- Position notional is 1,000 × 5 = 5,000.
- Contract quantity is 5,000 ÷ 100,000 = 0.05.
- Gross P&L is 0.05 × 1,000 = 50.
- With a purely illustrative 0.05% fee on both sides and funding paid of 1, estimated Net P&L is about 43.98. The example rate is not your live account rate.
Why Closed P&L can differ
- Additional entries change Average Entry Price and quantity.
- Partial closes require prorating open fees and funding.
- Maker and taker orders can use different fee rates.
- Slippage can change the actual exit price.
- Funding can vary at each settlement and may be paid or received.
P&L calculator FAQ
Does doubling leverage double profit on the same position?
Not for the same contract quantity. With unchanged margin, however, doubling leverage doubles notional and quantity, so the same price move produces a larger P&L amount.
Why is the default fee zero?
The applicable maker or taker rate can vary. Enter the rate actually displayed for your account rather than relying on a hard-coded assumption.
How do I enter funding received?
Enter it as a negative number. Receiving 2 means entering -2, which adds 2 to the estimated Net P&L.
Can it be used for spot trading?
The basic price-difference logic can be illustrative, but the tool is designed for USDT linear contracts with margin and leverage. Spot has different fee and funding mechanics.
